2023 MGA Member-Member

Last year the MGA Board made the decision to enhance the overall experience of our annual Member- Member event. Our goal with this year’s event is to build on what has worked well in our invitational tournaments we hosted in the past and build a new legacy going forward for our member-member event. We hope that you join us for a weekend of comradery and celebration of our great organization we have built together.

Entry fee $250 per person for MGA members (Entry fee covers)

Tournament Format

  • The format is Fourball which is a two-person Best Ball Match Play tournament
  • Teams have been pre-flighted based on the team aggregate handicap and index
  • Play will consist of five (5) nine-hole matches; one against each team in your flight; each match will be handicapped off the low handicap in the match
  • There will be nine (9) points per match. Points will be awarded as follows:
  • 1 point for winning a hole
  • ½ point for halving a hole
  • The team with the highest total after the end of the five matches will be the flight winner and will compete in a shootout for the overall Invitational champion. For payout purposes only, in the event of a tie for a Flight winner, the winner will be determined based on the team’s head-to-head match during the tournament, If still no winner is determined, then compare score against 3rd place team in flight, then 4th place and so on until a winner is determined.
  • Official score cards will be provided prior to play. The competitors will be responsible for the team’s hole by hole score. SCORECARDS ARE TO BE SIGNED, ATTESTED AND TURNED IN AT THE SCOREBOARD AFTER THE COMPLETION OF EACH ROUND. Failure to have two signatures will result in the match being halved


  • There will be a four-hole Shoot Out to determine the Hamilton Mill Member-Member Overall Champions. 
  • All teams tied with the highest number of points in their flight will compete in the Shoot Out.  Also, any team that wins (no ties) all their matches will qualify for the Shoot Out.
  • Death Flight- After the completion of the first 3 matches the teams with the least number of points in each flight will be added to the death flight. The team in the death flight that scores the greatest number of points in their final two matches will qualify for the shootout. In the event of a tie a chip off will determine what time will advance to the shootout.  
  • The Shoot Out will be Alternate Shot using full handicaps.  The team handicap will be based on 60% of the lowest handicap of the team and 40% of the highest handicap of the team.  The strokes will be applied on the individual holes as indicated on the scorecard.
  • All teams will play off the low team’s handicap. 
  • Partners will have to alternate tee shots (i.e., if player A drives on 1 then player B drives on 2 regardless of which player holed out on 1.)  All ties will be settled by a chip off until we get to hole #4. Once we get to hole 4 all ties will be settled by playing the hole over again.  Both players will hit the chip and the better of the two chips will represent the team’s chip off distance.  The team closest to the hole will advance.  The Rules Committee will determine the number of teams dropped each hole to compete for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place on the fourth and final hole of the shootout.

Friday- Match 1&2 / men’s Night

9:00am – Check-in

10:00am – First match (Shotgun)

12:30pm – Lunch

2:00pm – Second Match (shotgun)

4:30pm – First day Scoring

4:45pm- Dinner

Saturday- Match 3&4 / Spouse Dinner

10:00am – Third match (Shotgun)

12:30pm – Lunch

2:00pm – Fourth Match (shotgun)

4:30pm – Second day Scoring

4:45pm- Dinner

Sunday- final match / Shootout

11:00am – Final Match (Shotgun)

1:30pm – Lunch

2:00pm – Conclusion of Scoring

2:30pm – Start of the Shootout (Holes 1-4)

4:00pm- Awards ceremony on 4 green

Additional Details


Course handicaps have been established based on your pre-selection of playing the TOURNAMENT tees (course rating 72.2, slope 136) or the WHITE tees (course rating 69.3, slope 123). The tournament committee reserves the right to review, modify and approve all handicaps.

In The Event of Rain

We will make every effort to complete all 45 holes and the Shoot Out. There will be no rain dates. If any portion is rained out, it will be the sole decision of the Tournament Committee in determining final winners.

Tournament Committee

The Tournament/Rules Committee comprised of John Arndt and Steve Stonecypher will settle all protests, appeals and tournament decisions. This committee will also determine any changes in format due to adverse weather conditions. Any decision of the Tournament Committee is final.

2023 Results

Congrats to the tournament shootout winners Matt Coy & John Stokes. They played great golf throughout the tournament winning the first flight and outlasting Mark Lacy & Mike Stevens and Joel & Greg Brody on the final shootout hole. It was another great weekend with perfect weather. Congrats to all flight winners below:
